Don't Tell Mom, The Babysitter's Dead: How a Hidden Nanny Cam Saves Lives

Don't Tell Mom, The Babysitter's Dead: How a Hidden Nanny Cam Saves Lives

22nd Jan 2020

When most people think of a hidden nanny cam, they usually think of crime prevention or evidence. We'll cover some overlooked ways it can actually save lives.

Today marks the first day you’re going back to work after having your baby. You know you can trust the nanny you hired but that doesn’t stop you from being nervous about leaving them alone for the first time.

You can give yourself a little peace of mind by purchasing a hidden nanny cam before you go back to work. Not only can a nanny cam make you feel less nervous about leaving your baby but they can actually save their life.

Still not so sure if you need one? Keep reading to find out how you and your baby can benefit from you setting a camera up.

1. You'll Know What's Going On When You're Not There

Even if your nanny has a great review, you may still feel a little anxious about leaving your baby home alone with them. The biggest benefit of nanny cams is that you'll be able to see what the nanny is doing no matter if you're at work or at the grocery store.

Even though hidden nanny cams are traditionally for watching the nanny, you can use a few of them to monitor your home even if you don't have a baby. This way if someone breaks in while you're out, you'll be the first one to know about it.

2. You Have Video Evidence

You don't want to even imagine that your nanny would abuse your child but you should be prepared for any and all scenarios. Hidden nanny cams are the perfect cautionary tool.

If your nanny does something to harm your little one, the camera will capture it. You'll have video evidence that you can use against them to seek justice. It doesn't only protect the baby in instances of abuse.

It also protects you. Imagine coming home only to notice that there's fifty dollars missing from your sock drawer. You're pretty sure the nanny did it but without video evidence, you wouldn't be able to prove it.

3. Essential Part of Long-Term Safety

If your nanny is doing something to bring harm to your baby you don't want to hear about it years down the line when your child can vocally tell you. You want to know about it right away so you can stop it.

Setting up a nanny cam will allow you to view video footage and catch the babysitter in the act as soon as you see the abuse happening. You'll then be able to fire them and save your little one years of trauma.

4. Emotional Support

Even if your nanny is the best one on the face of the planet, it won't make you feel any better about being without your baby for over 8 hours a day. It could cause you to miss milestones with your child that you'll never be able to get back.

While watching your child take their first steps over the camera isn't the same as being there for it, you don't miss it at least.

5. You'll Be Able to Correct Your Nanny or Learn From Them

Issues with your nanny don't always have to be as devastating as abuse. You may use a parenting style that clashes with theirs. If you can watch what they're doing over the cam then you can gently push them in the right direction if they're doing something you don't like.

On the flip side of this, they may follow a parenting technique that you never thought of before. You would have missed out on this learning opportunity had you not viewed the video footage.

6. They Do More Than Watch the Nanny

On top of watching the nanny, the camera can also act like a baby monitoring system when you're at home. If your child is in any immediate danger while you're not in the same room as them you'll be able to act fast and possibly save their life.

Again, you don't have to have a child to purchase a hidden nanny camera. You can use it as a security camera, in general, to watch over your house when you're not there.

7. You'll Have Peace of Mind

If you spend your entire workday worried about what's going on with your child, you may not be in the proper mental state to be productive.

Being able to get on your phone every once in a while to check-in can give you peace of mind so you can get through your workday and keep up with your job performance.

Other Things to Keep in Mind

One of the best parts about using nanny cams is that they're legal in all 50 states. There are stipulations in some states, however. For one, you'll only be able to film in common areas such as the baby's room, the living room, or the kitchen.

You can't film the nanny in their private room (if they live with you) or in the bathroom. In Connecticut, Florida, Deleware, California, Maryland, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Lousiana, Nevada, Montana, Washington, Pensylvania, Oregan, and New Hampshire you can't record audio without your nanny's consent.

Benefits of the Hidden Nanny Cam

Buying a hidden nanny cam is the perfect thing to give you a little peace of mind when you're leaving your baby to go back to work. You'll be able to keep an eye on the sitter from the comfort of your desk and know if your little one is truly safe in their hands.
